I Like My Husband!

I like my husband! Believe it or not, this statement is ground breaking in the world of marriage! I have heard many wives talking about their husbands and read many posts from still others who can’t stand their husbands. It is almost as if when we are in a group, we are supposed to run our guys down, complain about them and put them to shame! Why? I liked my husband when we were dating. I fell in love with him and then I married him. But you know, I still like him.
I understand some husbands, including mine, have their faults and women need to vent. But I am shocked to read message boards where women run down a laundry list of everything wrong with their husbands. I remember meeting a woman for the first time. She was married to a friend of my husband’s. We were getting together for a BBQ at our home. While our husbands were out grilling, she stayed inside and did nothing but bitch about her husband. I didn’t even know her, and I barely knew him and she was unloading on me as I were her marriage counselor!

I am shocked how many women are willing to air their husbands dirty laundry…literally! They talk about stains their husbands leave in their underwear! Do I need to hear this? Do they need to dishonor their husbands like this? How would they like it if their husbands made fun of their personal hygiene, looks or personal habits. Of course these women would feel betrayed! But yet, it seems common practice for the wives to bash the husbands in social settings and expect to bond with another woman over it.

I will bond with my friends over money, health and career issues. I will share tips and try to learn more from my friends about finances, cooking and crafts. I will complain about the kids with them. But I WILL NOT disgrace my husband by shaming him to others.

I like my man!

He’s the best.

Good for you! I not only like my husband, I have total hots for him. (It helps that he’s 7 years younger than I am and really cute) He took on me and my 2 boys, moving to the burbs, driving carpools, and being a complete mensch. The flip side is that I now have 3 kids - I had to explain to my hubby that a bowl of Fruit Loops doesn’t count as a serving of fruit. But using him as comedy material is one thing - complaining about him all the time to friends is another, and brava for speaking up against husband-bashing!
